For example, Woodland Hills, Calif.-based Brilliant Digital Entertainment, a specialist in 3-D animation, is designing animated sports tutorials that feature leading athletes, said president Kevin Bermeister. The tutorials would use motion-capture techniques and feature a voice-over from the athlete describing his or her form, Bermeister said. The goal is not only to give instruction, but also to sell equipment. The big push, Bermeister said, is coming from brand-name sports companies looking for a bigger return on the millions of dollars they pay to sponsor star athletes.
