Updated 5:25 PM ET March 21, 2000

By Frank Barnako, CBS MarketWatch
AOL (AOL), Yahoo (YHOO), Microsoft (MSFT) and Lycos (LCOS) continue as the four most popular Web properties in the U>S> according to the February listing of traffic released Tuesday by Media Metrix. Fifth-place Excite at Home (ATHM) showed the greatest gain. Its audience increased from 25.4 million unique visitors in January to 30.2 million in February, largely driven by heavy usage of its Bluemountainarts.com greeting-card Web site, a popular Valentine's Day destination, the researchers said. Media Metrix also released audience estimates for individual Web sites. The top five were Yahoo.com (YHOO), visited by 44.7 million people; MSN.com, with 36.2 million; AOL.com, with 31.6; Microsoft.com, with 26 million, and Netscape.com which had 22.4 million visitors.
