JB,In this regard, I endeavor to VERY closely monitor the extent to which STB's, digital cable, advanced TV's and such are absorbed into the mass market. You are absolutely right about the importance of that stuff. I look forward to your handing us the information as soon as it becomes available, and on a silver platter. :) Eric, The Scientific America and Tivo suits you mentioned are more than mere crumbs. They're more like loaves of bread that I left on the table, especially the remaining digital issue with SA. Thanks for reminding everyone. The fact that I left that out is an indication of how remote the possibility remains in my mind that Gemstar won't prevail, having won the analog portion hands down. Your point about Time Warner stripping the VBI is confusing to me. My understanding is that the paging system which cirumvents the VBI is actually better than using the VBI because it is "always on," instead of being able to use the VBI only four times each day. The always-on feature allows the benefit of providing the end user much more current information regarding late-breaking news, sports info, and the like. If I'm right about all of that, it seems that the importance of VBI stripping is lessened now that there will be a better alternative this year in the form of one-way paging and next year in the form of two-way paging. Straighten me out if the essence of my understanding is wrong. By the way, I forgot to mention that I still look forward to the day that Henry announces the first e-book that contains an IPG, if for no other reason than to have a great excuse to fly to Stew's home for a breakfast feast of bagels. :) --Mike Buckley
