CREE just announced an additional R&D funding of $10 million from Microvision over the next two years. Microvision is
working with CREE to develop Laser and LED display chips for wireless Internet display devices. One device is a headset
that projects a full screen onto your eye. Another device is a handset that projects a full screen onto your eyes. In addition,
CREE will be investing $12.5 million into Microvision stock. During the Compound Semiconductors in Communications
Conference in Florida last week, CREE presented more details on its new line of products for RF power amplifiers. These
RF power amplifiers can amplify greater power at higher temperatures than comparable silicon-based devices. Both
development efforts build upon CREEs core technology in Silicon Carbide materials. While the development of the RF
power devices and display chip will not upside revenue this fiscal year, they will be an incremental revenue source for F01.
We project the RF devices will come to market by the end of this C00. The display chips should be available during C01.
More importantly, we feel CREE is continuing to diversify into different product lines all based upon their core silicon carbide
materials technology. We continue to like the stock, CREE should be a core holding in any basket of compound
semiconductor companies.
