Exodus takes $637.5 mln stake in Xcelera unit

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 22 (Reuters) - Internet hosting service provider Exodus Communications
Inc. (NasdaqNM:EXDS - news) said on Wednesday it would make a $637.5 million investment in a unit of
Xcelera.com Inc. (AMEX:XLA - news) specializing in Web site performance.

The unit, Mirror Image, makes software designed to improve the delivery of Internet content. Under the
terms of the deal, Exodus will use the software throughout its data network.

Exodus said it and Mirror Image planned to enhance Web site performance for customers, consumers and e-business Web sites, including
delivery up to 10 times faster than conventional methods.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Exodus shares were up 4 at 159-1/4. Xcelera was up 22-15/16 at 197.
