I believe that speech recognition is going to be a factor in how fast China adapts to the computer. The keyboard is not setup for the Chinese language. I believe LHSP has done a lot of research in this area.

Love my chair.

Good Luck

Don

Speech recognition applications--

Not just speech recognition per se, but translation and speech *generation*. I know that LHSP is working with people writing lip sync animation software for the internet. A digital animation sequence (and when I say animation I mean Jar Jar Binks, not Saturday morning) is generated on demand in viewers' language of choice, with appropriate lip sync (as opposed to, say, a "dubbed" spaghetti western).

Potential for interactive applications in a global/multilingual context is pretty impressive.

>>I see speech recognition being used, in cars, cell phones/handhelds,
kiosk, house automation, and some direct computer commands. Still a rather large potential market. IMHO<<

Greg,

Have you seen that IBM commercial where the guy is wearing a personal computer and he's sitting on a park bench screaming, "Scroll up, Scroll up! Sell!" Birds are flying everywhere because he's totally into body language.... and then he switches mid stream and pleasantly informs his wife or girlfriend, "Yeah, the meeting went great"....I think that is XYBR, btw. Anyway, I agree with your point, I don't see voice recognition eliminating keyboards, but a great adjunct to have.
