In this respect, it's similar to the situation many years ago when Intel released a chip which couldn't process some simple math problems. They had to recall and replace the chips. At the time it significantly affected the share price even if in the long run it was a blip.


The reason for the drop was really more in how Intel handled the flaw. They didn't live up to it right away and even when they did they basically said it wouldn't effect most people and so were going to do nothing about it.

The general consensus at the time was that if they had lived up to it right away and just replaced everything the drop would have been a blip on a radar screen (which it is now anyway, years later)
