GM, erstwhile maker of declining brands Buick and Saturn, recently signed a huge deal to buy Honda V-6 engines. Apparently they can't come up with anything as good.

Honda is the premier gasoline engine maker in the world, producing more than 10 million annually. The next gen Accord will have a revolutionary new engine design, something like 25% more efficient while more powerful.

btw, the new mid-sized Saturn is an old German Adam Opel model, modified and built in an old GM DE plant if I recall correctly.

There are no sources more reliable than nihil with respect to cars and consumer satisfaction (the real measure of quality). I did early work on hedonic indexes for automobiles. It is obvious to economists that the marginal rate of satisfaction (or utility) per dollar is the measure that should be maximized. J.D. Power is the expert on car quality, and here are the results -- with Saturn at the top!

By the way, GM is a takeover target and you should hold as much of your wealth in GM as you can.
