In my opinion this does not put GDI into Mercedes cars. Mercedes isn't anxious for consumers to think the same technology they can buy in economy cars is being used in world class luxury cars. Not to mention GDI is inferior. As I recall, Volvo's use of GDI in some of their European cars resulted in a rash of catalytic converter failures. Mercedes wants no part of that.

I recently attended the boat show currently touring major US cities. OptiMax was EVERYWHERE. Even on pontoon boats, where the engines were worth more than the boats!
