I would also say the stock is holding up very well, and is in a normal consolidation phase. The way you look at it is all a matter of your perspective, and your time frame. On Jan. 31 the closing price was 36.8875 On Feb. 29 it was 72.0625 Eleven trading days ago, on March 8, the stock closed above 100 for the first time. Eight trading days ago, on March 13, the stock closed above 110 for the first time. For the week, last week the Nasdaq comp. was down 5%. LDP was up 11.5%. After a road show, the company announces a stock split. FBR raises their price target to 140; Bear Stearns subsequently raises their's to 200. Bear Stearns and FBR continue to iterate the company is sorely undervalued in comparison to like companies. All indications are that institutional interest is very strong. The company states that the old debt portfolio is a non-issue. Sets the stage for Best insurance rating improvement. Two new very good IPOs are going public the next several weeks. The private equity portfolio looks very good. The WWWFX (kinetics) fund confirms they have discovered the company and taken a position (I had seen posted that LDP is now one of their top ten holdings, but could not confirm due to the only available information being outdated.) The company hires a good PR firm. They expect to trade on CREST in the near future.....etc. Also, I would not be surprised to see another analyst pick up coverage, and the stock is still below the radar of most institutions. Exactly what is it that the company has done in the last few months that an investor would not like. I know, mezzanine financing, the private equity really looks like crap, the public portfolio is filled with crap, tech stocks are going down, it's an insurance company, the VC arm's just been lucky lately and it's all gonna end....blah blah blah. As with the price action and the company, this is all a matter of your perspective and your own personal investment objectives and opinions. Make up your own mind.
