Do you have an unlimited advantage account at merrill? I opened one in February and am quite pleased with the service and with the total lack of commissions.

As to limit orders, in my own experience, looking back, it seems that when they did get filled, I had a position that was underwater at the close. When they did not get filled, I would have been so much better off having placed a market order.
