Do you customarily fart at other people's tables? You must not be very popular. No, I would not mind if you farted by mistake at my table. I would probably find it more tolerable than listening to you talk. The chance that you would be at my table is vanishingly small. But that is irrelevant. I would not object to your eating in the same restaurant. I think that is your right. If you wanted to fart, or vomit, or pick your nose or play with yourself that is your prerogative.

Normally, I try to stay out of these discussions ~ for they have really nowhere to go ~ ~ but, when you equate a nursing child with farting in public or spitting or blowing smelly cigars ~ I'm starting to think Guiness is missing you.

I do, in fact, have conflicting feelings regarding nursing in public. On the one hand, I agree with Neocon in re: decorum in public places. On the other hand, restaurants are for feeding in public, are they not?

Folks who see sexual connotations in nursing infants appear to have severe fixations. How can you see sex in babies nursing? 'Tis a picture of love and contentment all too seldom witnessed by heathens such as yourself?

Would you rather listen to the child cry for food? You can be sure that when hunger wakes them up, the noise begins. I prefer them to be offered a full breast, a plastic bottle, a pacifier, or whatever quiets them.

No need to respond, JLA. I'm sure your ability to retaliate far exceeds my ability to argue the point. Maybe you might re-think your position?
