Curtis, this is significant development. Trust me!

First to the market with 10 Gig Optical switch and now first to the market with 10 Gig Ethernet switch!

Migration of proprietary Enterprise/ISP Router from CSCO IOS to the Public Network protocol is ABOUT TO BEGIN. Ramifications are unknown for CSCO but huge for NT.

"``Nortel Networks continues to drive the Internet revolution. The end-to-end optical Ethernet solution leverages our number-one global optical networking leadership and advanced switching and routing technologies to unify the private and public worlds of telecommunications. This simplification results in higher performance at lower cost for users and service providers,' said Bill Hawe, chief technology officer, Nortel Networks.

I have to agree with you. Cisco a couple of years ago delayed Gigether until standards were fully agreed to and then hit the market hard and reaped huge rewards!

I get a kick out the emphasis put on "Transport" but actually that is a very small $$$ area of the Telcom business. Cisco has chosen to attack this market when the time is ripe. NT and LU have to defend and Cisco doesn't. That is a huge advantage for Cisco going forward.

Sadly for LU and NT Cisco will eat away at their underpinnings and they will probably lose in the end. The fast and nimble will survive! NT has a chance to hang on, only time will tell who really wins in the end. Fortunately for all of us this market is growing by leaps and bounds!
