I remember a past Chairman of 3M stated that the only way to solve the problems of the cities was to stop funding them, stop the subsidies.

In most metropolitan areas, only a tiny fraction of car trips each day are between suburb and city center. The vast majority are trips between suburbs.

Traffic jams is the way the planners have chosen to keep the suburbanites out.
