and it's likely that JDSU and ETEK did their homework before the merger was agreed to.

Likely the deal will go through, but it will probably be delayed and JDSU/ETEK will be forced to spin something off. This makes buying ETEK for JDSU no longer the sure thing/great deal it was because of all the added uncertainty.

I sold some of my ETEK at 230 a day or two ago and just sold the rest at 224. I'm crying about my stupidity of not taking some profits when it was over 300 and instead falling into the idiotic buy-and-hold trap. Instead of selling half at 300, a natural profit-taking point, for a profit of 95 per share I end up with only 19 per share. This illustrates the lunacy of never taking profits.

I'd like to own JDSU but now I'll have to wait for a good technical signal to buy.
