03/22 15:07 KLEIN - MICROSOFT REMEDY MUST MATCH FINDING OF SERIOUS
ANTICOMPETITIVE PRACTICES

WASHINGTON, March 22 (Reuters) - Assistant Attorney General Joel Klein told a congressional committee on Wednesday that any remedy in the landmark Microsoft Corp.<MSFT.O> antitrust case must be commensurate with the seriousness of the firm's actions.

"The findings of fact reveal a serious pattern of anti-competitive conduct," Klein said in reference to findings handed down by a federal judge last year. "I think that a remedy out to be commensurate with those practices."

Klein's comments came as he was asked about settlement talks being conducted between Microsoft and the Justice Department. But Klein refused any comment about those confidential talks.
