Sending that letter is like going up to a woman (or a man, don't want to be accused of sexism here) and asking her why everyone thinks she is so ugly. What kind of answer do you expect?

1. They can't see the real me.
2. They can't see at all.
3. They are overlooking my inner beauty.
4. I don't care what they think, I am beautiful and one day they'll regret what they've said.
5. Hysterical sobbing and grasping for Prozac bottle.

All Aware management can do is articulate its vision for the company. They have done that. The problem, it seems to me, is that the technology is perceived to be at a crossroads, and there is a chance that the things Aware is strong at will not dominate the marketplace of the future. And if they don't dominate the marketplace of the future to at least some degree, they don't deserve a higher valuation. Obviously somebody thinks these other companies have something worth investing in. (For the record, I am long AWRE but not the others you mention.)

It's frustrating, I agree, but in the end you can benefit from the marketplace's slowness by adding to your position before AWRE becomes an $8B company. It's a lot easier in this market to go from 1 to 8 billion in marketplace than from 8 to 64, but to the small investor the effect is the same. Or you can play the gorilla game, and invest in them all, figuring that the one who wins will make you richer than the losers will make you poorer.

JMHO,
