customer and investor acceptance has helped them through their initial learning phase. More
trial and error ahead, I'm sure.

The customer acceptance was due to the way Amazon operated their business. Amazon earned that by delivvering as planned in almost all cases. The part that surprised is the amount of money the equity markets are willing to give to Amazon. CDnow is going to fail and unless someone really bails them out. CDnow did a better job or retailing in CDs only, of course. The problem was the equity markets would not financially support CDnow beyond now and their product mix is too narrow.

CDnow executed a great stretegy of making their customers aware of new music releases and did it in HTML email.

Time will tell on Amazon.
