Hello, Jean. NTAP, too, is a software company, not a hardware company. All of its hardware is commercial off the shelf stuff. It's the OS and the features of its OS that make NTAP's product so outstanding, such as Write Anywhere File Layout, SNAPSHOT/RESTORE, Multiprotocol Security, and NDMP. I do not underestimate the management talent of EMC. However, they are being attacked from the top (IBM) and from below (NTAP). IBM is after EMC's customer base. NTAP is after EMC's future. Knowing some of EMC's management, my bet is that they will focus on defending themselves from IBM first and foremost.
