Besides TeraBeam I haven't really seen anything in the way of true PT-MP optical systems in commercial form. Doesn't mean they won't come, just not here yet.

As for optical taking sales away from companies like Digital Microwave or Triton, I see the optical market and the RF market as being much more complimentary than competitive. The existence of the dual technology platform makes for a legitimate alternative to inground fiber. Even Triton who are advertising 99.999% availability from their "network solution" told me that the average length of a link in Florida is 600m, in many instances that makes the solution inappropriate (as a stand-alone solution), much like the optical solution is inappropriate under some circumstances, as a stand-alone solution. The industry in general needs to have the different technologies working in concert with one another, not bidding war against each other.
