Elmer Re..<<<<A perfect example here. Intel always priced their products above the predatory pricing levels set by AMD, let who gets blamed for a price war? Today AMD wages a price war with much lower pricing but you would never admit it. You feel much more comfortable rooting for someone you can relate to. >>>>>>>> What a crock Elmer. We went through this 2 months ago and by definition, a price war is the "successful lowering of prices to drive competitors out of business." A price war is not defined as the lowering of prices only. Do you really thing Intel will get driven out of business by AMD lowering prices on the Athlon high mhz chips? Re..<<<<It is human nature to trash whoever is at the top. IBM used to be hated by most everyone. MSFT is also hated because they are at the top. People generally hate winners because most people can't relate to winning but can relate to losing. Powerless people feel much more comfortable rooting for the underdog because they feel like underdogs themselves. >>>>>> Elmer, how appropiate you used both IBM and MSFT as examples. Both were monopolies and by comparing Intel to them you are impling Intel is a monopoly. People don't always root for the underdog. Look at GE. Ge dominates by putting out good products at great prices combined with great advertising. Whats the last time you have heard of GE suing anybody to keep competitors out of light bulb market. Thats the difference. Intel dominates by both having great products, and keeping competitors at bay, by changing standards and suing people, which in turn raises prices to us; just like IBM and MSFT were judged to have done. The best part is having driven out Cyrix and IDT, Intel didn't supply enough chips to supply low end and by creating shortages, INtel has incurred the wrath of OEMS. Its one thing to bully people playing the game, but its another to take the ball and leave; thereby ruining the game for everyone. Even you agree people generally hate Intel, and thats why all of the polls since athlon came out have favored Athlon. Its certainly not because the 1000 mhz athlon is any faster than 1000 mhz PIII. Yet the poll on Anand's shows people 2-1 favored Athlon, given their choice of either. Do you really feel that Willy when it comes out, can overcome the hatred and regain 80% of the market?
