Bonjour from Montreal

I know one day is not enough to make any judgements, but there will be a steep learning curve for me to learn the ropes here. Old dog, new tricks. The only system I feel comfortable with so far is equity trading, which is actually a huge step up from Torex. Very simple point and click. The Quoter system will take me a while to get comfortable with. It's always 'on' for live fire, and if you're not right on top of it you can end up buying or selling a lot of stuff you don't mean to. I hope I get the hang of it, but right now I feel like a goat staked out for the lion.

One big difference is the attitude of the ME management. They have been very present and helpful, unlike the mavens in Toronto, whom I wouldn't recognise by sight. Hope that continues.

I haven't seen much except the floor and my hotel room since I got here, but Montreal sure seems like a nice place. I'm off Thursday for a CSN&Y concert in TO then a weekend reunion in Memphis which I've planned for a year and can't bring myself to skip even with the move here. Like Don Henley says...never seen a hearse with luggage racks.

Happy trading.

Porter

Hi Porter. I hope your having fun in good 'Ol Montreal!

I have a question about BCE options.

I was looking at the May 180 and May 190 options last Tuesday (you remember that day don't you?) and this Monday (Yesterday) and have noticed at a few times that there were NO BIDS on BCE MAY 180. I have NEVER seen this before on the TSE, but was wondering if this is a ME glitch.

I get real time OPTIONS from Canada Stockwatch which showed no bid. I thought this was weird, so I did a check on SCHWAB Canada and sure enough, the bid was 0.

I was wondering what does this mean? Does it mean there were no buyers at all, including specialists (since you are a specialist)? I thought specialist were supposed to provide liquidity in the market when there were no buyers sellers. No knock against you, just wondering why the bid was 0. Monday there was no bid, but the ask was about 12.00 or so about 2pm (sorry, can't remembery the excact time).

Thanks in advance.
