Morning Doc,

Surprised to see you here this AM. Usually don't see you until late night. I could not agree more with your post. I am so burned out on managed care that it is starting to make me ill. Thanks goodness for Volts and his strategy. Like you:I would like to see a year of continued cc revenues that would act as a psychological reenforcer. Although I think in my case 6 months will be enough.

Hopefully we will both be on the porch fulltime by year end and we can kick back with V, Dealer, the lollipop kids, JW(but only if he promises not to whip my ass<gg>) and all the rest of the porchsters. That goal undoubtedly beats the hell out of continuing the managed care BS.

Another disillusioned Doc,

Joel

Hi Dr David,
I too can not sleep sometimes so you and the others kept me company last night.
After reading your post, I realize more than ever how misjudged doctors are, as are other professions. My doctor retired at a very early age because of the crap placed on him by HMO's and liability insurance, not to mention all the wacko's out there looking for someone to sue. The blame can partly be put on the "Corporate America" that Jim Willie so fondly refers to in the BrunHilda episodes. Employees are forced to take the insurance with chosen providers, therefore getting, in some cases, less than adequate health care and the doctors end up underpaid and underappreciated. Where does it end?
I hope you can get to that land of "The Good Life" that is stress free, and yet continue being the conscientious, caring physician that I can tell you are.

Now on a lighter note:
This is a true story;
A nurse at the beginning of the shift places her stethoscope on an elderly and slightly deaf female patient's anterior chest wall. "Big Breaths," instructed the nurse.
"Yes, they used to be," remorsed the patient.

and one more,

A nurse caring for a woman from Kentucky asked, "So how's your breakfast this morning?" It's very good, except for that Kentucky Jelly. I can't seem to get used to the taste," the patient replied. The nurse asked to see the jelly and woman produced a foil packet labeled "KY Jelly."

No, I am not a nurse, but I have a friend who is.

I bet you could tell us some stories...
