US DVD player sales up "only" 80.5%, in the lastest week.....

Vital Statistics - 3/21/00

According to VideoScan First Alert Reporting Retailers for the week of for the week ending March 12, 2000, DVD title sales were 659,000 yielding a year-to-date sales total of 7,353,000.

According to statistics from CEA, for the week ending March 10, 2000, DVD player unit sales to dealers were somewhat down from last week at 56,592, a 80.5 percent increase over 1999 for the same week. In addition, projection television sale unit sales to dealers were 13,953, a 3.6 percent increase, and VCR player sales were 265, 758, a 23.6 percent increase.

Month-to-date, DVD player sales are 117,840, a 135.9 percent increase, projection television sales are 36,476, a 65.4 percent increase and VCR sales are 611,696, a 61.3 percent increase over March 1999.

Year-to-date, DVD player sales remain high at 888,906, a 211.3 percent increase over 1999 sales. Projection television sales are also up at 233,409, a 31.6 percent increase and VCR sales are somewhat down at 3,126,354, a mere 15.2 percent increase over 1999.
