Infineon is the spun off semiconductor wing of Siemens. 2. Siemens is a major player in the automotive electronics business. The Infineon chips are aimed at the auto sector (see article below). 3. The auto industry needs embedded OS standards, hence the auto industry is slowly but surely moving to OSEK compliant OSs. 4. Metcalfe's law (see below). WIND needs to win the "installed base race" in the OSEK compliant OS space. Relationships like this obviously help a great deal to make WIND the "safe bet". 5. The OSEK opportunity is massive. How many embedded OSs are in the average car ? How many cars are produced per year world wide ?
