Dear NW: CPQ can maintain it's policy of not commenting on rumors but dispel it (crossed fingers) at the same time by a news release that discusses server and/or iPaq sales. Using the iPaq's as an example, and assuming sales are going very well (from what I have read) something titled, "Compaq's new iPaq sales exceed projections," would be in order.

To remain completely silent at this stage in CPQ's credibility rebuilding is not a smart move.

Regards,

Lynn

NW..."Cites Policy On Rumors"

Would that be the policy on rumors that are
correct or the policy on rumors that are incorrect?

I hope this is not our 3rd annual "rerun".

I just talked to Mary at IR and she said that your DJ Newswire report doesn't exist and that she knows nothing about it. As usual, IR has no clue. They don't even know that the stock is down today or why. All but called me a liar re your "policy we don't comment on rumor" post. UNREAL! El
