Commission To Investigate Unlawful Imports by
Hitachi and Sega

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 2000--Rambus Inc.
(Nasdaq: RMBS - news) today announced it is requesting the U.S. International Trade Commission (``ITC') to conduct an
investigation, pursuant to section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930, and to remedy the unlawful importation into the United States
and the sale in the United States after importation, of Hitachi and Sega products, covered by U.S. patents Nos. 6,034,918 and
6,038,195 which are owned by Rambus.

Rambus' ``337 Complaint', names Hitachi, Ltd.; Hitachi Semiconductor (America), Inc.; Sega Enterprises, Ltd. and Sega of
America, Inc. The complaint requests that the ITC investigate Hitachi SDRAM and DDR SDRAM memory products, certain
Hitachi SH series microprocessors as well as Sega© Dreamcast(TM) game consoles which incorporate Hitachi SH series
microprocessors. Rambus is seeking to halt the importation and sale of the infringing Hitachi memory and microprocessor
products and Sega Dreamcast game consoles.

On January 18, 2000, Rambus filed a patent infringement suit against Hitachi, Ltd. and Hitachi Semiconductor (America), Inc.

products and the SH microprocessors that directly interface with them. On February 29, 2000, Rambus filed a second patent
infringement suit in Delaware involving two additional U.S. patents that cover Hitachi DDR SDRAMs and certain SH
microprocessors. A total of eight patents are currently involved in the ITC and Federal District Court proceedings.
