Trio,
In the short run you may feel you blew it with your timing for buying QCOM. Remember, though, GGaming is a long term strategy. I am pretty confident you will still make a lot of money with QCOM. But, you just can't measure your results in weeks or just a few months.

I don't think Schwab allows LEAPS in IRAs. I know they don't allow naked options.

You are correct. That is why I moved all of my family's accounts to Fidelity in January. FIDO does allow options in an IRA, including naked options, LEAPS, etc.

Trio, do you think you could have timed QCOM? Of course you can use retrospective to see what you shoulda done, but how do you figure that out when you doing the buying?

QCOM will treat you right. Give it time. You will have a Merry Christmas, I'm bettin'. ;)

BTW, CSCO will have no problem breaking the $1T barrier.

Timing gorillas works for me, why? because when I am establishing a new position and I really don't have a full feel for the stock I can get spooked. I would rather miss a big gain than lose a lot of capital (I got pre-split ORCL at $21 and sold at $23 because of reports that they would warn of lower earnings, it was a bogus report but I didn't have a feel for the company).

That means I fare better if I can get a 10% or more buffer early because I am a stronger hand when those dips come along. One I have 50% or a double I have King Kong strength Gorilla Grip.
