Rarebird,

Can you elaborate? BA and BS are simply the wireless carrier of the data. How does BA's network differ from BS's?

Rarebird,

Apologies if the post was confusing. I wasn't speaking to how a person connects to SI. They could use service from any provider.

A device like a palm pilot has a more limited display than a typical pc's monitor. That makes displaying large tables of information difficult. Something like SI's portfolio with 10 columns of information may be very attractive on a monitor with 1024x768 resolution but may be unreadable on a device with less area.

(OT: could you PM me and tell me more about your experience using SI from your handheld device? What pages render well, what pages look bad? Do you use other parts of the site, or only StockTalk? Any input appreciated)

We are trying to make the user experience as efficient and pleasant as possible. This means that we are tailoring our output to match the capabilities of the user device.

Many sites offer 'low bandwidth' display options for people who want a less graphics intensive experience. In a similar way a user could choose to access a version of SiliconInvestor that is designed to be viewed on a palm held device. Of course the user could choose whether they wanted to view the low bandwidth or full bandwidth version.
