FWIW, I don't think of this as an attack from above, but from below, as well. Shark has some serious shortcomings that have been delayed for at least six more months -- Fibre Channel connectivity and SRDFish functions. All the info I have seen points to Shark competing on price only. It doesn't take that much management focus to lower prices, especially if you do it on an ad-hoc basis when competing against IBM. EMC can certainly do that, probably as aggressively as IBM, if not more.

EMC has already beaten IBM once, and I suspect that they can do it again. Particularly since the game is being played in their ballpark now.
