3rt time=charm; PCS tests HDR favorably. This means that 1EXTREME advocates are a day late and a dollar short. The
stumbling governments that protect their lumbering serf companies from competition in Europe can't protect
them in US and ASIA---there innovation and fast cycle time rules--stock options and venture capital rule.

Sprint PCS on HDR

Sprint PCS is now testing the Qualcomm HDR system. "We like what we see, but we think there will be some
improvements in the spec," reports Sprint PCS spokesman Tom Murphy. Sprint will be able to double the speed of
access over its switched-circuit data system by year's end by implementing new compression technology, Murphy
notes. If all goes well with HDR, Sprint PCS could then move to that platform using existing base stations ? with
the addition of new line cards ? well in advance of full 3G implementation, he adds.
