Recently, CNBC has mentioned the "Three Steps and a Stumble" rule, implying that the market corrects after three successive interest rate raises. Is this market providing yet another example of an old rule that didn't work? So far, so good.

According to Norm Fosback in Market Logic, "eventually all sell signals have led to substantial price declines - about 30% on average, although in some cases a long delay has ensued before the decline has materialized." He goes on to point out that the market rose 70% after the sell signal in 1928 before the eventual crash in 1929.

In this context, I think we'll continue to have the best of both worlds: jaw-dropping volatility and a combination of long/short opportunities. It only gets better from here - buy the air pockets and short the high poles.
