rude. Are you saying that Compaq's model is that much more complex than HWP's? Carly was able to jump right on the rumors of a shortfall. She was obviously in touch with what was going on in her own company. Even if Compaq's model is more complex, shouldn't Capellas and his staff have some idea how the quarter is going? I can't believe they're completely blind to what's going on this quarter. Even a statement such as "sales to date would indicate we should come in on estimates." would do the trick. They seemed to be able to do enough research to know the quarter would be back end loaded, and now they can't even come up with an idea of where they are? I don't buy it for a minute. Lots of recent investors losing money...AGAIN... and MC sits there silent. Sickening.

Rude-- No one expects the numbers but if they are not capable of having a trend line at the beginning of each qtr and probably month/week to have an idea as the qtr progresses shame on them. To believe they have no idea where they are for the qtr as each week passes is impossible-- anyone that believes they have little idea of where they are as qtrs progress should go out and ask the employees. No one would believe they rely only on the final numbers--- there are few qtrs that are so close they are not certain one way or another long before the EPS is released. Info coming from all over the world takes time to crunch-- some are a day ahead of the rest of the world,, but computers and other communication methods are available-- they no longer rely on carrier pigeons seems a logical guess... ;-]--
