I read on the Redibook site that they are supposedly going to consolidate the data for the major ECN's.REDIBook ECN Announces After-Hours Links, Buy-Side Connections

NEW YORK, Feb. 3 PRNewswire -- REDIBook ECN today announced that by the end of the month it expects to be linked to several other Electronic Communication Networks (ECNs) for distribution of after-hours prices and orders. Archipelago Holdings, Island Trading, and MarketXT will be among the first ECNs linked to REDIBook. REDIBook will consolidate pricing data for these venues and distribute it through an agreement with Bridge Information Systems. REDIBook is one of the fastest growing ECNs, recently averaging nearly 70 million executed shares per day.

According to Larry Leibowitz, the acting CEO of REDIBook, "These linkages will allow us to provide consolidated quotes and market access for our customers, ensuring that they will have the best prices and trading opportunities available. We feel that this is a big step towards improving our already significant extended-hours offering, and we will continue to work with other ECNs to provide and expand this service"

REDIBook, whose owners include some of the largest retail brokers, is open for trading from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday. While NASD and the New York Stock Exchange will provide consolidated quotes until 6:30 p.m., distribution of quotes and prices after 6:30 p.m. has been left to individual ECNs.

I understand that $50 a month are the exchange fees which have nothing to do with the company providing this service to you. Island only gives a part of the picture, the book only for Island. Also missing the part that is important to many which is where the dynamic MM activity is shown in real time. IMO this appears to be essential for scalping NASDAQ stocks. So I guess it all depends how you go about making money in the market, and whether you have done your research on the tools available.
