Thanks LG, but I take issue to your response as I do not define trading even if you hold a position for several days as investment.

To me investment is taking a position for at least several months.

Would you call the present spectacular rise of the SPX or NDX a move based on sound investment logic or pure mania speculation.

Based on your TA analysis, did you anticipated yesterday another 150 point rise in the NDX???..... and that is my point...
for sure FA did not warranted this move, sentiment based on P/C ratio did not either..

Every one knew that they will boost the market toward the quarter end only we did not know how much.....this I call speculation not investment as is was not based on any logic to speak of.

Yes as a day trader you trive on volatility and I understand your wish. Which day trader would like to trade a stock that moves 1/2 a day??

For example I bought IBM this morning for some meaningless news only to cash 4 points no brains no research just stupid speculation like in the Casino, got lucky I guess.

Personaly I have a longer term horizon and would not like to make a living trading the stock market.

What I forsee is a crisis at least as severe as in Japan and this will make it more difficult for me and many others to earn a decent living and this is my point.

As to the market and my profits I have no complains thank you.

Haim

LG,
I don't want to flame any wars on this one, but... well said. I totally agree. reality is reality.
that said, SPX has runup about 200 pts in just over a week... the full year 1999 runup was 'only' 240 pts.
even for permabulls, that's got to be scary.
it scares me.

Bravo LG, excellent post.

Deja vu all over again.

schwab and qcom i believe with both double top or make marginal new highs before the nasdaq tops (probably yahoo too)

There is still a lot of un-belief in this rally, we need somebody coming around doing a wiggy jig about nasdaq overtaking the dow in a year yadda yadda.

The vix is up on a day like this ??? --g--

also nyse a/d is still looking good and new lows are drying up and new highs are expanding.

also interestingly Putin should be voted in and trf is breaking out of a big base, following telecom leadership of ros and vip
