No one is against breast-feeding,not even breast-feeding in public. Even breast-feeding in restaurants would pass muster if it were discreet. It is a discussion of courtesy and how it may be enforced in certain instances........

Thanks so much for publishing that. I've never seen a nursing mom abuse anyone's sensibilities by baring her breasts- but of course that doesn't mean people weren't offended by the mere idea of nursing at all, when these women nursed their babies. I've seen lots of moms nurse discretely and I am always pleased to see that since breastmilk is almost always best- except where the woman is on medications, or has some disease that can be passed through the breast milk.

I remember nursing all of my kids, discretely, everywhere. And I particularly remember nursing my daughter on a plane during takeoff and landing so that her ears wouldn't build up pressure. Considering how loud she could scream I am sure the people around me were grateful I performed this service.

Rude people are everywhere and aren't usually asked to leave restaurants. I don't like people with bad table manners- they make me sick. So many people chew with their mouths open, and smack, and the number of people that visit the toilet and don't wash their hands is ASTOUNDING (i am sure there are some of those people here)- and those people are actually putting ALL of us at risk of disease. I want to go after the truly disgusting and disease bearing (and how about those nose pickers? And ear diggers? And the people who cough and sneeze without covering?) From practical point of view we should go after them first. And from a theoretical point of view it seems silly to talk about nursing women being a problem when they pretty clearly aren't and at the same time so many other people ARE truly disgusting.
