Hi E:

I feel more comfortable the last two days, and that has me worried: all averages now moving together, Naz near old high, S&P making new highs, and the Dow getting back over 11000---where's some much needed anxiety? Looks too good to be for real.

Do you or anyone here follow MU? I can't help but think somewhere in here is a good place to buy puts.

Sox looks good but some semi's look to be running out of gas. I sold cy today again +54, idti won't move for me, atml is coming back to me and will buy 55ish, xlnx has stalled. Altr has done well the last two days, but I missed getting in.

best,
cb

E!:

And, besides all of their other interests, don't they also have a lead in tax preparation? I would think that with all of the trading and investing going on people will be needing more help with taxes, or is that service on more of a corporate level?

CD franchises the Jackson Hewitt brand which, while not the size of H&R Block, is fairly large (maybe, #2?--CD seems to like that #2 slot--i.e. Avis).

The thing a lot of investors seem to forget (or simply not know) is that CD is not a 'bricks and mortar' outfit--they simply own the brands. This pretty much insulates them from stuff like rate hikes (except for the mortgage origination business) because they don't operate the Century 21 or Coldwell Banker offices--only charge fees for the use of the names. In fact, in tough times, some argue, more independent realtors seek the shelter of a well-known brand name to keep volumes up so the brand owners actually gain. Sigh--it's the perception that seems to count though, not the reality.
