In my case, it was mostly habit to open a margin account instead of a cash account.

my reasons are easy to understand.

* I trade options
* if I was in IPO jail I could continue to trade my account using the full buying power a margin account affords when necessary.
* if your going to have more than one account why not have it be a margin account.

we all know why people have multiple accounts
