David, You are a credit to all men that didn't blow up at this incident. But you should have foreseen this and built one of those tire killers down the middle of your garage. You could have posted a sign so that you wife would understand: Do not cross this line or your tires will be trashed.

Women!! What would they do without us? That ought to flush out any female lurkers. Your story kind of reminds me of that urban legend that keeps going around about the customer service guy (transcript of actual customer phone call) talking to someone whose computer wasn't working. After dozens of frustrating questions he finds out that the power is out in the customer's building. He tells the customer to box up the computer and send it back to the factory. Customer: "Wow is it that serious??" Customer Service Guy: "Yea it is. You're too stupid to own a computer."
