<I have to believe that CPQ's management is right to remain quiet.>

Agree entirely. This is where CPQ management has to keep its collective head after making it policy not to comment to ANYONE between earnings announcements. If it responds now that strategy goes out the window. If this rumour is untrue (and we're only hours away from knowing) then CPQ will have established a great precedent for not responding in similar situations in the future.

MeDroogies...Since you have investigated the
rumors over the last 24 hours...do you believe them to
be true?

Which Clinton?
In either case many people believe that the Clintons
lied. Certainly, that is not what anyone has suggested
CPQ do. (IMO, not a very convincing analogy)

What makes you believe that management recognizes
that a credibility gap exists?

Most companies (and stocks I own) that have supported
their stocks in situations as this are more profitable
investments than CPQ. Until now, history shows me evidence contrary to your view point.
(To me, the share price is the key "grade" on the report card, so far CPQ doesn't rate that well. Compare it to
the other "students" in the class.)

As every investor on this thread it is my strong desire
that the CPQ stock improves and that management takes
advantage of the company's potential before attrition
continues.

Sorry MeD-- This is just a good company (no longer a great one though due to inept mgmt for many years) that is treated like a POS by WS as mgmt over the years has worked hard to make it that way-- and continue to do so,,,, To think that investors,, esp institutions will return as MC keeps quiet tonight is a dream. Many run never to return just to have the same continous crap happen over again. Mgmt continues to prove they only have contemp for shareholder equity as they get their shares as cheap options and/or by grant anyway.Maybe if they put their money up things would be different? No -- IMO they are not capable of running this big boat-- time to break it up maybe as no one that can do it wants to bother,,,,,
