Then why does AMD have to JACK UP THE OPERATING VOLTAGE from 1.6 to 1.7 to 1.8 volts to get any speed out of the AthWiper ?>> That's OK Paul, Athlon uses a fan so it is OK to generate some heat. The speed is going higher and processor is stable, so all is good. Granted it is not as good as a 1 GHz Coppermine which does not need a fan. It will be OK Paul, really!
