Fred said, "We WILL work TOGETHER with SONY AND OTHER PARTNERS to build players with the maximum sound quality and compression, and to promote secure."

Sony is working with EDIG RIGHT NOW to build the music player.

Come on man... you are jumping to conclusions:

1. Sony and EDIG have an agreement
2. Fred says "We will work with our partners..."
3. Therefore EDIG is building a player for/with Sony

That's your logic and it is simply not right. It could be. But more likely you are reaching a conclusion based on assumptions that are false.

I would be willing to bet you $5 that Sony is not going to have EDIG OEM a player for them.

You are making stuff up:

It said nothing of the kind.

Fred was clearly talking about EDIG's use of Sony's encoder, NOT the other way around. "Sony and other partners". Clearly talking about their licensing of various codecs and encoders.

Any speculation about EDIG doing ANYTHING *for* Sony is just that - pure speculation - and, IMO, pure bunkum.
