So I've read through this PR, but see nothing which indicates the actual revenue produced by this installation? Was it a "freebie" that's given away in exchange for a press release? Or is Xircom paying?

If it's a freebie, then I would have hoped for a higher visibility account ... if it's a revenue generator, then do you have any idea what a "sale" like this is going to contribute to the quarters numbers?

I'm trying to get an idea of the "shareholder value" produced by this "win" ...

(P.S. When do you arrive for Brainshare?)

Novell and verbalizing the marketing strategy

My impressions are that the infrastructure products are getting much closer to the stage where they are not merely "something we can do" but are actually marketable solutions.

For example DIrCommerce which is Novell's entry into ecommerce. This product is out at 38 beta sites. It allows a company, an ISP for example, to sell access to objects in an NDS tree. The objects can be software to be run on your local workstation or cars or anything that you would buy in cyberspace. There is an interface to online credit card billing and verification. With this product anyone could go into the "sell it on the internet " busienss. Novell provides consulting and technical support through its integation partners to get you started.

Moreover the sales model is per use. In other words you don't pay Novell anything until your customer buys something and then you pay a transaction fee.

==============

Now what is important about this is that Novell is moving closer and closer to the customer as we know that custoemr on the internet.

This project came out of the Nova Scotia MAritime Telephone experience.
