"The business models need to change to fit the technology, not the other way around," he added. This service, Benkler said, allows users to listen to their CD's anywhere without carrying their entire collection around with them. "A side effect is that it is possible to copy the music illegally. But it does not outweigh the usefulness of the technology."

Another side effect, musicians do not produce songs because there is no money in it, because people are copying them illegally.

Copyright and Intellectual Property laws will prevail over these stupid business models. MP3 and others trying to wedge themselves in the middle will fail. If I had known more about MP3's business model when i was short the IPO at 90, I doubt that I would have ever covered.
