Elwood,

That's what I was told the rumor was. And it is what was reported by cnbc and other posters on both SI and Yahoo.
Furthermore, I never said if they didn't warn on friday everything was going to be duckie. What I said was that the rumor called for a warning on friday. No warning came. Therefore, we're back to where we were before the so-called rumor (except for the $4.00) which is, we'll have to wait and see. Obviously they can warn next week or the week after that or any time right up till earnings release. But that has always been the case. In addition, the rumor came from somewhere - it did not originate with Rosen or MC. Whether it was a short seller or someone with a different interest in knocking down cpq doesn't really matter. Merely trying to give an opinion as to what motivated the rumor, which I did, is hardly putting one's head in the sand. The rumor is separate and distinct from whether or not there is a problem in Houston. Houston may indeed have a problem - but that problem does not include putting out a rumor of missing estimates and then responding with a "no comment". Someone created the rumor and had a reason for doing so. Excuse me for speculating as to a reason.
