"His fence-mending was, unfortunately, for naught. Three weeks ago, he was on the phone with analysts and investors..."

Sam- I read your Barron's comment and was very surprised. This was never public three weeks ago. In some ways the media ignored it. Obviously the analysts already had their position and didn't want to tank ANTC further or they would have run to the media to publicize this mis-step. Even the chatter on Yahoo missed this announcement. But it clearly explains the real reason for ANTC taking a hit during the midst of the upgrades. And apparently a lot of the houses let their clients know about the shortfall too.

Ironically Warburg upped the target about the same time Stanzione was reducing top line expectations. So they certainly got caught on the wrong side of that call. I like it when that happens.<g> -MikeM(From Florida)

"Barrons March 27, 2000--...His fence-mending was, unfortunately, for naught. Three weeks ago, he was on the phone with analysts and investors. The message this time: First-quarter earnings would come in on target, up 46% to 19 cents per share, from 13 cents per share reported in 1999's first quarter. But revenues would be $13 million shy.....As a result, Stanzione had to ratchet down analyst's revenue expectations to $235 million from $248 million for the first-quarter."

Sam and Thread- Wrong! So where did Barrons'(3/27/00) Barry Henderson get his story, I wonder?

Yesterday ANTEC reported earnings of $.22/share. And revenue of $250 million. Maybe there was no insider information being passed around afterall- as the Barron's article directly implied. I wonder if Barron's is going to post a retraction to their March 27 story?

I'm guessing that article is what pushed stock price from the $50/share level down to $36/share. And has kept ANTEC from recovering to near it's old highs of $60/share. There is nothing but positive spending plans that have been coming out of all the MSOs. Even worldwide.

ANTEC revenues up 72%. Net up 92%. Both yr/yr comparisons. Backlog is at a record $271 million. I wonder if Barry Henderson is going to go out and find some other shorts to quote. Then shoot holes in what appears to be facts so Barron's can print another negative article about ANTEC.

Only problem, as usual, NOTHING is even said about this earnings release on their website. NOTHING is said about a conference call. So at most, Barron's headline, "ANTEC is good at communications, lousy at communicating," appears to hold true. -MikeM(From Florida)

PS This still does not change my mind about Management Incentive Plan. I hope all shareholders vote NO. Incentive needs to be DIRECTLY/STRICTLY based on future results.
