You know what they say about opinions...

I am sure disabled people are all over the map on quality of life. Disabilities are so different- no two are exactly the same- so why would conclusions about quality of life be the same? I am sure every disabled person who commented would have a slightly different point of view.

What a given disabled persons opinion is (imo) is relevant only for that person, it might be interesting but it is hardly something that would change my experience. That was my point about my son- he isn't like anyone else, our decisions for and with him can't be made based on anyone else's judgments. I wouldn't tell anyone else with a disabled child what to do- if they asked me I'd give them the benefit of our knowledge as it relates to the health care system, or the literature on disability, but as far as evolving some sort of standard for other people to act on- Not my business.
