Vic-- Agreed. WS looks at EPS from investments as a non-issue. The EPS & REV from operations is what counts. If they cannot make money in business then get out and turn into another CMGI,, Of course by staying on this course next year the consensus will be lowered again,, In a few years they may be able to surprise to the upside,, LOL! No one is looking for them to do much as it is,,

victor,

With the new CFO joining CPQ is a few weeks ... could it be possible that one of his first responsibilities is to set a a 'tracking stock' for CPQ's investments.

It could have a 2-fold benefit: (1) it's a way to share some of these benefits with the shareholders ... I know your thoughts about CPQ's BOD re: not caring about shareholders, and 2) it could be a means by which CPQ, itself & its financial statements & value begin to accrue real acceptance for managing/buying/selling its huge investment portfolio ... so maybe these 'quarterly' sales no longer are discounted when earnings are released but become a permanent earning's fixture.

Thoughts ?
