Some of you may already know that Rande Spiegelman has been locked out of the discussion threads on Bob Brinker's web site, apparently for the sin of posting a link to his home page on Suite101.com. Not only that, but almost every post which Rande ever wrote has disappeared from the site. A heavy-handed approach if ever there was one. Others have also been locked out. Really makes me appreciate Silicon Investor. While I have significant areas of disagreement with Rande, and I know that he can be irritating at times, he always makes the effort to try to support his positions with facts and logical arguments, which I especially appreciated in light of the storm of flame artists who had shown up there of late. While I admire and respect Bob Brinker's work, and have come to his defense on many occasions when I thought it appropriate, I sure don't like the way they are running their web site. I'm convinced that the much-lauded Junior just does not understand the Internet. I'm not referring to understanding the technical aspects, but rather its tradition of openness. A sad day.
