I regard network storage as a subset of the internet sector, making it a "no brainer" as well. However, since we are unable to characterize it as a Gorilla Game, we need to be cautious about any individual stock selection. From an empirical point of view, if IBM is able to challenge and effectively compete with EMC in the SAN arena, it will confirm our impression that SAN is a Royalty game. OTOH, if NTAP continues to dominate NAS, it may mean there are proprietary standards evolving that we haven't identified yet.

shamsaee., I would say yes. In the northeast there are a number of newly funded start-ups building next generation storage networking products. It seems that the ball is just starting to roll (as with wireless) in this area. all imo. tp

sham, as you probably know, nt bought bay networks last year. at the time bay was cisco's biggest competitor with about 20% of the router-hub market. a great get for nt. nt now can go head to head with the rest of the market in tele-com and not worry if cisco doesn't like it. nt is shapeing up to be a real contender. of course i had bay at the time of the merger and got trimmed real good. and then instead of buying nt when it was depressed for the merger, bought rmbs instead. alls well that ends well. rocky
